You need to change a few settings to keep this from happening -one is in the Adapter Power Management settings, the other is in your Power Plan's Adapter settings.

    1. Open your Device Manager, find your Adapter, right click and select Properties. You can also do it from the Wireless Network Admin Window in Network & Sharing.
    2. Click on the Power Management tab.
    3. Un-Check the box that says "Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save Power"
    4. Click on the OK button to save.
    5. Open up your Power Options from the Control Panel.
    6. Click on "Change Plan Settings" for your current Power Plan, or the one you're having problems with.
    7. Click on "Change Advanced Power Settings".
    8. On the Settings navigation tree, navigate to Wireless Adapter Settings/Power Saving Mode. Click on the Drop Down Menu to access the Setting selections.
    9. It's likely set to Low, Medium or Maximum Power saving. Change the menu selection to "Maximum Performance". This will ensure your Adapter is on all the time. Change it for both Battery and AC Settings.

The adapter doesn't use that much juice so it's not that big of a drain anyway. Anyway, this should fix you up and keep your adapter running through any Power Save modes. Just make sure that you change the Power Save settings for whatever Power Plan you happen to be using so you don't have the problem again.
