Hi. I turned on my laptop today, and the internet wasn't working. A few minutes later, it gave me the little red X to show I had no connetion (it had showed a connection before). I tried clicking the network connection icon, but that didn't do anything. In fact, nothing would appear if I mouseovered it, either. I tried opening the network and sharing center, but that wouldn't work. Interestingly, it worked on the desktop. I had a suspicion that it might be some kind of virus, so I tried to open McAfee, with no avail. Finally, as I tried opening the control panel (or anything on the right pane of the start menu, for that matter), it gave me an error message that said "remote procedure call failed and did not execute."

    What is the problem?

I don't know, but the first step is to run a system restore to a couple days ago.

If that fails, then review your event viewer (right click COMPUTER, choose MANAGE, choose EVENT VIEWER > WINDOWS LOG > and both APPLICATION and SYSTEM logs

report back the results of those items with a RED X or YELLOW !

Don't everly freak if there are a lot of them...Some are normal, as Windows is always finding errors
