    Hi,

I've just purchased a Acer Aspire 5012wlmi. For the time being (3 weeks I need to use the ethernet connection at home, after this I will be moving to a house with a wireless connection). However, as of now I cannot connect to my cable modem as it just keeps coming up limited connectivity. I know it's not the modem or cable as this is the connection i'm using now on my desktop. I would be really grateful if you could assist in any way. The NIC is an Realtek 8110/8169.

How are you connecting? Straight from your lappy to the cable modem?

I would try updating the drivers on your wi-fi and router if you're using one. Also try disabling your firewall if using one, a lot of third-party firewalls will block connections. If either of those don't work then setting the IP, DNS, Gateway etc., manually should take care of the issue. You'll have to do this on both machines though if you do it on the laptop.
