    Hello,
I have a new Billion 7800N router to which I connect without problem with my Macbook Pro, iPad and HTC Desire phone. However, with my older Asus A6VC, I can only connect when no security is applied. When WPA2 is applied it does not work. It keeps on trying to acquire IP . I connect when there is no security applied to the router.

I upgraded the driver of the Intel(R) Pro/wirelss 2200BG card to version 9.0.4.39 which seems to be even more recent than what the ASUS site proposes for download and that goes back to December 2007.

Can anyone recommend something? I am at a loss as I would like to keep this computer as a spare.

    Thanks in advance.

Check if Intel offers anything more recent for 2200BG.
Also make sure you're not running 802.11n network.

It is from the Intel Pro site that I downloaded the most up-to-date driver, but still is pretty old. Now I have connected my new router but there is no particular setting I have found that allows me to only run 802.11n. It says it is compatible with b and g, which is my wireless adaptor. Prior to this I had a Netgear 834g and it worked well.

The idea about having the new router is that I can have fast connections with my macbook for teleconference. And it works well. But I am wondering how I can keep the security and connect my old laptop.

You are going to have the router set to mixed mode first and which OS are you using?

The settings for the will be in the router's configuration webpage. Conect to the router using a cable and enter the right IP address to access it. It will be something like 192.168.#.#
