im a HP notebook user and run Vista Business SP1 on it. I hav never really faced a prob connecting to the network. But lately wen i tried connectin 2 the net using my wireless Dlink router somehow i wasnt gettin an IP assigned to my comp and an autoIP was bein assigned. So i manually assigned the required IP and stil the prob din resolve. I connected 2 my router using a wire even then i cud not connect to my network. So i tried connectin my comp to my friends router, the same problem occured again. a dynamicIP was not bein assigned and even after i manually assigned the IP it wasnt workin. this is strange because my comp was workin fine before yest. Also i hav a PC runnin XP which is connectin to the router fine. Any idea what might be the prblem guys? really looking forward to some help

As a place to start, try shutting down the firewall if you're running one.

    Have you rebooted the router?

If you run the ipconfig /all cmd does every thing come back 0.0.0.0?

If you have Symantic installed you must un-install it. It does not no what disable means.
