I recently purchased ASUS notebook, c/w wireless /bluetooth etc. and Windows Vista Home Premium.
My desktop computer is XP . I have a NETGEAR Wireless Router [MR814 v2] for home network. But alas, no matter what i try I cannot get a connection to the notebook.
The notebook recognises the wireless connection , and i have added the WEP encryption and allowed access, but to no avail will it let me connect to internet.
I am not tech wizard, so any help would be appreciated.

Is the desktop able to connect to the Internet?...what do u mean when u say "allowed access"?....Did u set up WEP on both the Router AND the Laptop?...does the Wireless icon in the task tray says connected and u can't get on the net, or does it have an error such as a yellow symbol or red x over it?

This is just an idea, try to declare the network "private", this has worked for some.
