I have a Belkin F5D8233 router and have been connecting three PC's to it without a problem for about three months (since I bought it). I use Open WEP 128-Bit security and all three Dell PC's have the Intel 2200BG wireless cards. On all three PC's I use the Intel driver software to manage the connections.

The other day while upgrading Norton 360 I lost my Intel 2200BG profile database on one of the computers. After trying many things the only way I could fix the problem with the Intel driver software was to upgrade it, which I did successfully. But now the PC connects to the Belkin router but doesn't get an IP address. It gets no response from the DHCP server (on the router). I've rebooted both the router and the PC numerous time but have had no luck. The IP address starts out as 0.0.0.0, but eventually changes to some autoconfigure IP address that not in the range of IP addresses assignable by the router.

The other two PC's still connect to the router immediately. One of those PC's has the old Intel driver software; one has the new driver software just like the PC that has the problems.

Is somehow my router confused about the recently upgraded PC? Is it keeping it's IP address for it (I believe I have the lease time as "forever") but can't provide it because of the upgrade of the Intel 2200BG driver software?

I tried letting Windows manage the connection but it also doesn't get an IP address.

I tried to roll back to the old Intel driver but that doesn't work. I tried deleting the new driver and reinstalling the old one but that gives an error. So I reinstalled the new driver again but it still doesn't work.

I would appreciate any guidance I could get on this.

Uninstall Norton it causes more problems than it fixes. Once your working again you can reinstall it if you want.

The Belkin routers are noting but trouble to if you search this forum.
