Hi I have an HP dv9000t laptop. Whenever it goes into sleep mode I apparently lose my internet connection because my AIM signs out and says "connection failed" when the comp wakes up. I don't know if it has something to do with my wireless card turning off or what is causing this. Please help, thanks!

yes, most likely exactly the cause.

go to the devise manager and open it, find your network card, expand it, right click on it, go to properties and uncheck the box "allow the computer to turn off".....

    hope that helps.....

Hmm I tried it out and it hasn't fixed the problem. My Aim doesn't say connection lost or anything, it just looks like I signed out. Any other ideas?

Alright I must elaborate. The internet shuts off after I close the lid and leave it closed for an extended period of time. I assumed it was linked to the sleep mode but I guess it could be a function of the lid too. Not sure...

You have 2 places where the power in managed. The advanced port properties, and under the power management control panel. Need to set it so the wireless is not allowed to go to sleep. Stays on all the time. Probably in the hybernate settings.
