    Hello all,

I have a wireless print server - sadly it doesn't support 2 way communication (should have known that beforehand - although the alternative would have been a bit more pricy) - my question to you guys is, should a print server support a two way communication?

    It's a TP-LInk one.

Maybe if I can find some support here we can ask TP-Link to offer a firmware upgrade? It's capable of sending data - it can be administered via a website.

It's annoying when people don't say what model their equipment is.

The TP-Link TL-PS210U Supports all MFP functions, including Print, Scan, Fax, Copy & Storage, and Supports bi-direction function. Sounds like two way communication to me.

Buying a printer that has networking built in is quite nice in that you don't have to deal with this sort of thing.

    It's a WP 510 something - the only wireless TP-Link Printserver.

But it's more a question of principle I'm asking.

I know that it does not have two way communication - and wonder if people think this is allright. Maybe if a lot of people agree with me that it's not I can send them an email with a link to this thread - maybe they offer a new firmware.

Wireless printers are more expensive - I used to use my old laptop for that, but have since damaged the HDD... the print server was an alternative to a new HDD... to be honest I originally though I could continue to use my old laptop - but well... then I found out about the HDD.
On the other hand - why spend more on a wireless printer? I could use it with a USB cable - it's just that my mother prints more - but it needs to be in my room as the house is rather badly built and in winter you can't keep her room warm all day - not when nobody is home - my room is small - easy to heat. (our old Canon suffered from cold related ink troubles until it moved...)

    Edit - it's this one ;) http://www.tp-link.com/products/productDetails.asp?class=ps&pmodel=TL-WPS510U
