    Powerful mini-pcie card

    Hello

    I have now intel 5100, it isn't quite as powerful as I'd like.
    So what do you recommend for replacement? It should work with Linux.

    Define powerful- do you mean high power card (in terms of signal strength) or better performance (in terms of mbps)

    Also, are you sure it's the card and not the antenna design in your machine?

    I don't want high speed, just it would be capable of connecting networks that are far away.
    Well I'm not sure. The laptop is Compal JHL90.

    You could always check in DM to see if it is set to it's highest power..

    Don't forget that a WiFi router/access point etc also needs to be able to send a strong signal too, it's not just your laptop.

    Is 5300 more powerful than 5100?

    No- 5300 is based on the same chip that 5100 is and although it's way better for some reason it has the same transmit power, the same chip and with the same antennas it would have more or less the same range.
    You need a HP card. It seems there are more of them available in USB flavor rather than as internal cards though. Take a look at Alpha USB adapters for example.
