I'm using a Linksys WRT54GC compact router. The advantage of the limited range is I know no one can access my wireless network because the range is just barely big enough for my house. Certains spots in my house can't access the router  but the area's I'm always in seem to work fine (at least for now)

Now, I've got 6 or more SSID's in my neighborhood.... most are secured with encryption 1 or 2 are not  the ones that are not are usually the ones called LINKSYS/NETGEAR/DLINK/etc.... anyway: There is 1 router in my are "2wire####" I think its a wifi router my local DSL company sells to its customers? I get 2 bars of signal of that SSID everywhere in my house!!! Its ALWAYS in my available network list - and when I'm in an area where the signal on my router is weak - my laptop tries to connect to that 2wire-whateverthehell ssid. ARGH!

Is there ANYWAY to remove that certain SSID from my network list PERMANENTLY!?

If you're using the Wireless Zero configuration then
go to the list of wireless networks, click "change the order of preferred networks" and delete the offending network from the preferred networks list. This will ensure that your laptop does not automatically connect to that network ever again unless you connect to it manually.

Start> Control Panel> Network Connections> right click on Wireless Network Connection> Properties> Wireless Netoworks tab.
Click on the ones you don't want your wireless card to automatically connect to and hit Remove. If you have more than 3, depending on thier order in the list from up to down, it'll try to connect to the first from the top to the ones below it in order , i.e. if it can't connect to the first one it'll try to connect to the next one. Change the order by clicking Move Up or Move Down if you have more than 1 wireless connection you usually connect to.

Or, you could do what I did, go over to their house, explain what is happening, and offer to take 5 minutes and fix it for them.

This seems like the best way to solve the issue. When you delete the name from the remebered list in wireless properties; it will just come back next time you scan for wifi LAN on the laptop.
