Microsoft posted a possible a possible fix for slow network authentication in Windows Vista.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233

My notebook (HP Pavilion dv6255nr) now connects to my wireless router ( Belkin Router F5D7230-4) within ~20 secs from standby or hibernation.

Prior to the suggested fix it could take ~1min or slightly longer to authenticate a connection.
