I have an existing internet service with qwest. My girlfriend would like to connect her laptop to the modem via the ethernet cable to surf. Is there any security vunerabilities by doing this? It seems to work fine, but her notebook wasnt even configured for the qwest service.

how would it have to be configured? that software they make you install is only to initally setup the modem, not the computer...shes fine.

In fact, if you got a router, you both could be on at the same time!

if you don't have anti-virus and firewall software; and try to connect to the internet, you might as well be jumping off a cliff because malware is going to get inside your comp in mins.
