Hi! I recently bought an Asus A8JR (still waiting for it to arrive), and I need to buy a router to be able to connect said notebook to my home computer and to the Internet at home. Problem is, I know next to nothing about wireless routers.

We've looked at a few choices (there aren't that many choices in the Philippines, I'm afraid) and the ones that fit my budget of about $60 include the following:

    Asus WL-520G
    Linksys WRT54G
    Linksys WRT54GC
    Netgear WGR614
    TP-Link WR541G

If it helps, said router will need to connect computers in a two-storey 30-40sqm apartment to a wireless broadband Internet service.

All these routers I've mentioned all look the same to me, specs-wise, though I've read reviews here about how bad the Linksys router I just mentioned has become. I haven't read a lot of opinions about the other routers, however. So please help me make an informed decision on which router to pick (read: educate me :D ). :)

    Thanks!

Go with the Asus it is a solid piece of equipment and it also has a built in print server (very nice feature) ;).

I myself have a Linksys WRT54G V3 these are the older versions, the newer versions V6 and up really suck. Constantly disconnecting etc.

However the WRT54GL is also a solid piece (the firmware is Linux based).

But as I said before go with the Asus. ;)

You probably caused some confusion with the links- Asus doesn't have print server, moreover it's 8MB RAM unit with 2MB flash whereas WRT54GL is 16MB RAM with 4MB flash.
So it's the Linksys that's the best- handles traffic better and with 4MB of flash you are not limited to stripped-down versions of 3rd party firmware if you want to use it.
    As for WRT54G- it's a don't

EDIT: Oh yeah- I had to choose sth that wasn't on the list. Sorry. But it should fit the budget limit so I would strongly advice to consider.

It's a pretty substantial price difference here in my neck of the woods, though, which is why I didn't include the WRT54GL, but I had been hoping I could afford it. Thanks. =)

OK, so what about Buffalo WHR-HP-G54? It's almost identical to Linksys WRT54GL in terms of hardware but it should be cheaper.

I would also suggest that you go with the linksys router.
