    hii i know i'm new here but i need any help i can get my mm has just bought a new notebook a Compaq Presario V6430EE Notebook PC and it has vista home edition basic it's all fine but when i connected it to the internet through a DSL cable the connection is very very slow in both browsing and downloading it even stops some times anyone have an idea how to over come it thanks in advance

    Test your connection speed at: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
    and report what you get to us. That will help us diagnose your problem

    on my desktop pc not the notebook
    while in my note book it doesn't exceed 6kb/s download ,1kb/s ul i can't even download the flash player for the test (i got 6kb/s on bit torrent downloading which exceeds 70kb/s on my desktop pc)

    Wow that is crap.

    Umm, try calling the company and see if there is a problem with your connection.

    Also, update the notebooks drivers and the router's firmware.

    Are you using a router for your connection through your dsl modem? If so connect to the admin page of the router and clone your MAC address into the router. This will make all PC's have the same MAC address on the DSL side. Most ISP's use some sort of filtering to control access. It will not hurt anything if not required.

    Is your DSL LED staying green are dropping out. Have you made sure your PCis clean of Adware and spyware, they will kill you speed. Use Cablenut to set you stack settings and see if it helps. You will need to download the additional settings pack. Have not checked if it works with vista (MEII).

    wireless connection is flying but the cable connection is crap updated the driver for the nic but with no use
    hope some one finds a solution soon

    i don't have the router the router s elsewhere and as i said the internet is working perfectly on my desktop
