I have had a Dlink DIR 615 ABGN router and for a long time it had provided perfect connection to my pc and laptop and keeping an average of 92 ping on all game servers.

Recently I have started getting spikes of 900-1300 ping every 45 seconds for about 10 minutes and then it stops for like 20 minutes. I realy don't know what the heck is wrong.

    please help me!!!!

    PS

A result of my pinging 67.228.59.146 (Source Op TF2 Instant Spawn).

500 times resulted in 3/4 of it being 92-108 ping and the last 1/4 of it resulting in constant 1100-1500 ping spikes.

Did that and I even upgraded to the newer 3.11NA firmware, still no luck. My ping in BF2 stays at about 500 (better than spiking all over the place).

    R M A Time?

no answer from me, I'm an 'unbeliever' in ping spikes when measured by nothing other than running ping in a command box. Unless you setup a network trace, run it over days (!!!), log and analyze the data, all you've proven is that at the EXACT TIME you ran ping in the command box, something, somewhere was happening. That something may or may not be happening now or in the future. And if it does, you have nothing to prove that the cause is the same.

That happening can be at any point in the network from your OS IP stack through the local net & routers, through the ISP and onto the larger internet.

I was playing BF2 on my laptop while pinging the server with my pc and every time that I was getting lag or "problem with connection", my pc was showing that I was getting 1200 ping.

My PC was using Wired while my laptop was using Wireless.

first thing you should do is take the router out of the equation. Hook up directly to the cable/dsl modem via wire.

If the high pings continue, you can safely rule out your internal network--and if you rule that out, you know there is little you can do
