Long story short, I am trying to help a friend of mine fix his I.T problem.

He has 3 PC's, the main PC acts like a server which houses all of his data for his company. He then has 2 desktop client PC's that connect to that main PC, and retrieve the information off of it. Only problem is that one of the PC's can't ping or connect to that main PC.

I have checked the majority of the cables, and I am able to ping one of the desktop PC's from the main PC. I'm also able to ping the bad client PC from the good client PC, just not from the main PC.

I drew a little example so you can get a better idea what I am talking about. Anyone might have an idea why? They are connected through a switch by the way.

Have you verified the IP subnet and gateway settings on the PC that can't ping or be pinged by the main pc?

Are you pinging by hostname or IP? Have you flushed the ARP cache on the problematic PCs? If you are pinging by hostname, have you flushed DNS and netbios caches?

Have you checked the IPsec, firewall, and antivirus/security software settings?

Check in PC1's Windows firewall that ICMP incoming requests are ON

Can you post the IP config of all 3 machines?
