My Dlink dir-655 basically s the bed when I torrent. Can't browse the web or anything.

Here's my (extremely conservative) bandwidth settings in utor

And here's what settings I have for the router

-utorrent is forwarded (confirmed via canyouseeme.org)
    -SPI is diabled

I'm wired into the router, so no wireless interference of any kind. AV I use is MSE, and windows firewall allows it... So I'm really out of ideas on what the heck could be wrong.

    Thanks

That is probably a symptom of overloading the router's connection table. You can try turning off QoS if it's enabled, or if you have the ability to decrease the tcp established timeout on your router you can do that (idle connections will timeout faster, decreasing the load, but drop it too far and you will see reliability decrease). Otherwise you have two options: further reduce your global max connections, or buy a real router. :p

    Check out the guide:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/net...ireless-router-buyer-s-guide-2012-2013-a.html

I use a Netgear WNDR3800 and I've also owned a 3700v1, both are excellent routers although the 37 has better antennas. You can find them used for under $100 and $50, respectively (they are both discontinued). I run OpenWRT on them, though, so I can't vouch for their stock software.

Real Help For Your Small Network - SmallNetBuilder has a table at the right hand side of their homepage that has their current top routers by throughput if you want the most slammin' 5GHz possible.
