What I mean by 'Internet-Only' is that I ONLY use the router for providing Wifi so I can connect to the internet. I DO NOT share files. I DO NOT stream media. I DO NOT backup to a NAS. I DO NOT use WHS to monitor my PCs. I'm not sure what else I DO NOT do.

I see alot of routers offering gigabit ethernet connections, dual-band support, 802.11ac support etc.

what I'm wondering is what features should a user with my needs care about? I imagine that I'm looking for routers that offer long-range wifi, do not need to be reset constantly, and QoS for regulating torrents (i don't torrent personally).

One feature in particular is 5GHz support. I understand that this will provide 'less interference,' but from what I know, it reduces range (especially through walls). Am I correct that I should just stay on 2.4GHz because my throughput will be good enough for internet?

are there high-end routers that are specialized for my needs? or are the cheapest models more than good enough?

ps, please no lectures on how I should backup over my network.
