So my laptop died and now im using an old computer with no wireless card of its own so Im resorting to an equally old USB wireless adapter b/g. Is there anyway to make the adapter stronger in terms of receiving wireless signal? Because its awfully slow and has weak pick up compared to my dead laptop. Like it wont pick up most networks that my other one did. Also is there anyway to make it faster? I remember there was something I could do but I forgot what its called or how to do it...I think its like packet compression or something. Any help to make my adapter better is appreciated!

Not really, you just need to give it better signal somehow. If you can add an external antenna it should help.

You can try something like this, I haven't done it, therefore I don't know how effective it is..
EDIT : More ideas, you can even use pots and pans :p
