I have been looking for ages to solve this problem, so a quick summary.

I can connect to the internet fine, hence being on this forum.

My sister (it being her house) couldnt get a connection at all, but I managed to make it connect locally. So her computer is connecting to a router, that is connected to the internet, but wont connect to the internet!

Any solutions would be most welcome, as I know a few things about computers and I am baffled beyond just buying a new network adapter and hoping.

On a side note I just connected my brothers computer to the network fine.

Have you tried giving you sister a static ip address? One more question,is the wireless nic software trying to make the connection or is windows? Sometimes when both programs are running at the same time it can cause problems. I would also check device manager to be sure that your sister wireless nic is functioning properly.

Usually if it'll connect locally and won't connect to the internet, it just isn't pulling DNS addresses properly from the host router or access point. Try setting static DNS addresses... maybe OpenDNS or Google DNS, or you could call your ISP and get their local DNS server IP's.
