If i have my desktop connected to a wireless router, and then using my laptop(wireless of course) with it.
Which of the systems would get the bandwidth preference?or is it evenly distributed.
    I got a B/g Router.
Any advantage of G over B beside the LAN speed?

Hi dinesh, lol i just helped you over there
But really, you do get the same speeds when online with just one. It might cut down when both computers are online.

ah Thanks nick , for bearing with my n00bness :) You're omnipresent!
Is their any way to limit the bandwidth the desktop receives?
eg: give it only 4 kilobytes a second download?(my sibling uses it  )

There is, but I'm not sure I want to tell you. That would give you an unfair advantage over your sibling.

You will have to login to the router and check through the menus in there. That is going to be your best bet, but like the others said, if she just surfs it shouldn't cut your bandwidth that bad. It also depends on how you have your network setup.

Nah, it ain't gonna be there. Unless it's a very advanced router.

Yes, i actually posted that then deleted it after i found out it had a price now to it after 28 days so unless you are willing to pay, then maybe. If your not willing to pay, i would just leave it as is. Your bandwitdh wont be cut down or if it even is, by very few kbps.
I have to agree with Dr. because that setting would be in only some routers or has he said advanced. Is it a big deal or are you just wanting to get back at her? :D

Like others have said, if all she is doing is surfing the net, she is not gonna affect your download speeds.
If you are set on limiting her, see if your router supports QoS I guess, allthough I really don't see why you would use it for any other reason than to make her angry... :p
