So I was wondering if this is a fixable issue, or if I am just out of luck.
Sitting on my couch, my girlfriends 2 year old macbook will get stable internet. I'm not sure what type of network card, but its a standard low-spec'd macbook.
I will see the network she can connect to, but it won't let me connect to it. If I move to a specific part of the room (far corner) it will work stably.
I'm just disapointed that her mac wireless capabilities seem much stronger than my brand new high-specced laptop. I believe I have a 802.11n Wireless LAN card.
Here is my laptop- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220565
And under "network adapters" it has "Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adapter" and "Realtek RTL8168C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0).
I tried updating the drivers for both, but it didn't help.
Is there some sort of setting I need to change to increase the power? Or update the driver from someone else? Or am I just doomed to sit in the corner with my laptop as she lounges on the couch with stable internet? Any tips are welcome. Thanks

On NB's the power management can control the power to save battery. So check you energy management and adv properties of the wireless card.
