Yes it's a shame, boo HP.

So do you know if it is possible to change the wifi card on the skylake HP Envy 13?

    It's a neat laptop besides.

The manual states it's a Broadcom BCM943142 (only wifi n) but also mention Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265.

So I guess we can replace the broadcom with the intel. Sadly the intel doesn't have 5ghz either... o_O

Do you know any possibility to find a AC 5 GHZ wifi card that fit the format and the connector of the motherboard ?

    Thanks !

Intel 7264 ac does support 5GHz band - in fact 802.11ac standard only works on 5GHz band (on 2.4GHz you still get the same thing you got in 802.11n).
When buying a 7265 remember that white-listing is most likely in play so either buy an HP card or find a way to remove white-listing from BIOS.

    Thank you for your answer.

So do you think it will work ?

If the laptop manual mention a Intel 7265, does it means it is already inside or it is a card you can use to replace the original one ?

Service manual lists all card that can be sold in different configurations with your laptop - you can check what card is installed in Device Manager - I assume you did that already hence your question. So I guess you have the Broadcom card and you can replace it with 7265 if you want - but you have to buy it - it's not inside.

I haven't buy the laptop yet actually. I really like it but the lack of wifi ac is a nogo for me as I have a fiber connection at home and won't be able to enjoy it fully I think on wifi N.

So I am trying to know if there is a way to put some wifi ac on this laptop by changing the wifi card and if it is no too complicated.

Otherwise I will probably go with a Asus UX305...

It's really stingy to not put some wifi ac on an expensive laptop like that.

But for what I have seen, no one of the 4 configurations on the French market offers wifi ac (even the high-end, i7, 1400€ one!)

    - HP ENVY Notebook 13-d001nf
    - HP ENVY Notebook 13-d002nf
    - HP ENVY Notebook 13-d003nf
    - HP ENVY Notebook 13-d004nf

So if they mention the intel 7265, it probably means that maybe in some countries they offer it with wifi ac and the laptop should accept it.

So I guess the intel 7265 is the only card to use. Do you know it well is it a good card ?

    What do you think ?

Intel 7265 is basically the same as 7260 that I have in one of my laptops. It was very troublesome in the beginning and wouldn't work properly on 2.4GHz band but in time it's been fixed by driver updates and the card is fine - no complaints from me.

Just remember that you'd have to buy an Intel 7265 meant for HP, not just any random one.

Ok, important point indeed... I don't know if it is possible to find a 7265 made for HP easily...

Look for that part number listed in the picture in your first post. It will be the correct model.
