    D-Link DIR-655 with DWA-142

My internet connection does not automatically connect when Windows starts. I need to start the Wireless Connection manager that came with my DWA-142 (Dlink adapter) in order to get the internet connection. I did not need to do this before updating the driver on the DWA-142.

I know I can put a link for the Wireless Connection Manager in the "Startup" folder, but I would like to avoid doing that. I did not have to do that before, so I know it is possible for the internet connection to start without the Wireless Connection Manager being loaded.

Roll back the driver, unless there was a problem with the old one.

Are you loading both MS and MFG utilities? Is so you need to decide which one you want to use and make sure the other is not loaded.

If you use MS Zero config it does not need to be in the startup folder, it a service. Vista is a somewhat closed system, so the startup folder may be your only choice is that's what you want to run.

I am not sure if I am loading MS Zero config. When I go into MSCONFIG/Services and uncheck Wireless Zero Config it changes the Startup Selection in the MSCONFIG/General from Normal to Selective and I get a message at Windows startup that says I need to go into MSCONFIG/General and select "Normal Startup" instead of "Selective Startup".

Simply put, I need to figure out how previoiusly my internet connection was automatically starting at Windows startup without starting the "Wireless Connection Manager".

Did you download the latest drivers from D-Link, and did you follow the installation instructions?
