I have my laptop conected to my unsecured wireless network. Last night it suddenly stop working. I just cant seem to connect. I tried unplugging, reset the router, no luck... I also tried to connect to other networks and none of them would connect either.

Maybe it's telling you to connect via wire and setup WPA(2) personal AES security.

Or you may have a fw or card problem

Dumb question, but when you shut down your router, did you also shut down your computer? Every now and again, this problem pops up with our network at home and the solution is to shut down everything for a few minutes. All is well on reboot for reasons I don't understand at all, but not if we shut down the router alone.

Hi, there is a possiblity that someone has 'hacked' your router.
When I 1st bought my router I just set it up for the net and didn't go into any security settings at all, thus allowing anyone in the near vicinity to connect to my router and use it for free! However, after talking to my cousin one weekend, she said that she was using her new laptop and it was connecting to the net automatically, even though she had no router/modem.
It turns out she was connecting to someone elses router in the near vicinity unaware that this was against the law!
Since then, I secured my router/network with a password, but after a bit of tinkering, I realised that I could actually connect to anyones unsecured network, secure it, and then boot them off the network, its quite easy (this was done via testing on my own router, not anyone elses).
So, there is a chance that someone has connected to your router and done exactly this.
Try resetting your router (it might explain how in your instruction manual) and then going through the setup procedure, but this time creating 'WEP' security on it. An unsecured network is a prime target for even a novice hacker intent on using your internet connection for unlawful means.
Post back if you need help

What laptop do you have? Does the laptop have a wifi light? If so, does the light come on when you power up your laptop? Have you checked the device manager to see if the wifi card is listed and operating correctly?

If the card is working, have you connected to the router via ethernet cable?
