I had lot of problems with my laptop earlier when my wired connection didn't work at all... wifi did. However yesterday i got the wired connection to work. I use an ethernet cable very long one to connect to router.

Today i cannot connect wired. Not only that, i went to local area network and i dont even see local area connection icon. All i see is the wifi connection.

Does anyone know how i can fix this issue?

Okay this is very strange. I just decided to use spybot search and destroy then restarted laptop.

Then used microsoft security essentials to do a quick scan. Essentials showed my computer was at risk did show a trojan.

After that however, i went back to network settings and i see local area connection. I went and disconnected my wifi... and now i see the computer with the wired connection.

I assume this has something to do with spybot or microsoft security essentials then? I had did a restart of my computer earlier... but still no Local Area Connection. It was just after i did this... that the lan showed up...
