Hi I have an older dell 2650 laptop. Runs and works great though.

I usually connect to internet via ethernet.

I need to setup my computer so i can use my colleges wireless internet.
Q: what do I need. Do I need a external wifi card? Is that all?

    Any help would be appreciated

    1. i would recommend not getting anything from tigerdirect

    2. it doesn't matter if you get 11, 54, or greater speeds since you're going to be limited by your school's connection. those speeds are only helpful for xfering across a LAN. however, if you're going to be moving files to other machines via the LAN, then by all means, get the fastest you can afford.

TigerDirect usually have Super service. Either that or their service is the worse ever. It's either a hit or a miss. And the rebates are practically eye candy, 50% of the time you'll receive it.

And their shipping costs are crazy.

I agree with not buying anything from TigerDirect. If you want to do your purchase online try www.newegg.com

i also recommend newegg over tigerdirect. although newegg wasn't what it used to be, it's still a great, if not the best, online place to buy computer parts.
