currently I have a PS3,an xbox 360 (which the router will be hooked to) a desktop computer that uses a netgear wireless G usb adapter and a broadcom wireless g on my hp laptop. in the next month i'll be getting two new laptops one with a 5300/5100 and the other with a 4965/5100 card. I currently own a belkin G router ( F5D7230-4 6000) which makes me refreshing webpages 3-5 times until they load which can get rather annoying. my internet connection is 10/1 mbps.
I have a budget of 100-200$ and was considering buying the Linksys WRT610N if anyone can help me in my decision I will really appreciate it,thank you

    I recommend the D-Link DIR-655 or Trendnet TEW-631BRP

EDIT: I agree with blue68f100, stay away from Belkin. ;)

Read the reviews on smallnetbuilder.com . Just stay away from Belkin. As you know it is troublesome, even though they test good.

    D-Link 855/825 > D-Link 655 > Linksys WRT610N

Stay away from belkin ive heard of bad reviews especially since you plan on hooking it up to a console. Just read the reviews on amazon about belkin routers and you will see. Go with D-Link or Linksys the two best brands of routers at the moment :)

So if I could choose between the D-Link 855,825 and 655 should I go for the 855?

Ordered the D-Link 655 for 95$ shipped. I was going to order the 825 but after reading reviews it is actually inferior to the 655 except for the dual band option.(it has two antennas vs the three on the 655 as well). I don't feel good about buying a 1 year old + router but the reviews seem really good so..

Go by your need in terms of $ first and application second.

I dont know where you got your information from but the 825 is better than the 655. It may have 1 less antenna but because its dual band you can use it in 2.4 and 5Ghz band which has less interference which means better reception and quality especially when gaming. And the 855 has 3 antennas so that would have solved your problem. The 655 is still good though hope it suits your requirements :)

    855>825>655

Even though all of my network hardware is Linksys Dual-Band N, DO NOT get a WRT610N - it's got issues you don't want to deal with. In a recent test of DBN routers, the testing team took their WRT600N router offline, and then used others in its place to see how they would do. When they finally got to the 610, they had so many problems with it they put their 600 back online in its place for a comparison with the others.

Even though my network is now completely Dual-Band N, previously I used a Linksys WRT300N, which is as good a router as the 600N is for standard N networks. If you're only looking to spend less then $200, and don't care about DBN (it's a lot better, but about $80 more just for the router, and your adapters have to be DBN to get full use out of it) then the 300N is a good router. If you can spend the extra scratch for a Dual Band system then get the 600N.

You can see the report containing the info on the 610N at : http://tinyurl.com/46pw3d

Update : Changed my order to a D-link Dir - 825 instead of the 655. I just the range is as good as the 655 when using 2.4 ghz band. does the 825 have ANY other difference from the 655 except for the 2 antennas vs 3 and the dual band vs single band?
