Hi everyone, let me start by saying sorry for being a nuisance.
My family and I live in a condo with 2 sockets for the phone line. One in the living room and one in our room (the masters bedroom). We recently got our internet connected and I ask the people to connect it to the socket in the living room. It was connected with a company default wireless router (I have no idea what brand it is). But unfortunately every time I bring my laptop inside our room, I sometimes get disconnected because this is the far end of the pad. When I open the door, the connection is fine but not as fast as when I am in the living room. And my table is at the farthest end of the room to. So sometimes when I work in the room, I have to put the laptop on top of the bed and sit down on the floor, just to have a connection. I do not want to bring the router from the living room inside the room because my kids are doing homework there and they bring in friends with their laptops and do kid stuff.
So long story short, I want to leave the router outside, can I buy another router and plug it to the socket here in my room so I can have better connection?
If not, please give solutions for I am an accountant who knows nothing about computers and go to forums for help. lol
Thank you!

You can try going into your router's setting and changing the signal output to the max setting

Since it's over a phone line, it's likely DSL, and the router is a router/modem combo if it's only one box. You can't hook in a second box to another jack, but you might be able to move that box to another jack. You'd have to have the right splitters in place. Alternatively, you could hook in your own, stronger wireless router into the one that's provided to get better coverage, although that requires a bit of configuration on both boxes.
