My friend recently turned wireless in which i will be very soon and had a spare modem i could borrow for my xbox to play online with, rather than unplugging the modem upstairs and taking downstairs everytime i want to shoot some baddies on GTA4.

They both look identical and one is the Motorola SB5100 which is mine and has worked fine for two years :p

My friends is the Motorola SB5101E.
So i plugged it into the computer and xbox 360 and it doesn't work, its setup the exact same way but it never gets past the Online light, it just keeps flashing green...

    Any ideas?

Most ISP control access by MAC Filtering. This prevents any one from just plugging hardware and have it work. If you want to use that modem, you will more than likely have to call your ISP and have them reset the MAC address they have on file for you.

Yup, the mac address on the modem is how they know who the heck each of their customers is and who should get internet/at what speed and who should not get it.

You could clone the MAC though.
