my problem is that im getting the 60 seccond lag problem some laptops that run vista get when it "searches for new networks every 60 seconds" this is very iritating when im gaming on a wireless internet connecting as i get horrible lag spikes for about 2-3 seconds every minute. My question is is there any way to fix this problem? i have used VAL and WLAN optomizer with no effect, i have also tryed using the command prompt to shut off this feature but even that doesnt work. The only thing i can think of now is changing my wireless internet drivers back to XP so i can change the setting...If i could get any help with this problem it would be great

I have no idea what these are so I don't know what they might have done to help or hurt solving this.

    Which commands were these?

Knowing what you did can help address it. For example, was it...

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface='wireless network connection'

And, did you use the exact name for "wireless network connection"

    OK...

In Network and Sharing Center, MANAGE WIRELESS NETWORKS, how many other networks do you have listed?

Remove all but your current network (want to see if your computer is polling for other available networks that may have better signal strength)

Common problem but little known about, the problem is caused by windows WLan autoconfig searching for "new" wireless networks every 60seconds, if you have wireless and vista you can test this by running ping -t command on your router and look for a high ping or timeout every 60 secs. Something to note is microsoft seems this as a "feature" not a problem so has not fixed it. You also can't turn off Wlan autoconfig as it kills your net connection.

Have also tried what you have tried football with no luck, in the end iv'e gone and bought a 5m cat 6 cable to connect it to the router as im sick of it lol.

    But
netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface='wireless network connection'

    disables this

If he is still have the problem after disabling this, it must be something else?

Not always sadly, different people have different results based on drivers and system. I tried everything football did with the same result no fix, hooked the laptop up to the router via wire no problems <1ms ping all the time no jumps.

Leads me to believe in my case its either the vista 60 second problem or something with the wireless card, just seems too co-incidental that the problem occurs every 60seconds.
