Ok, so just got a new computer, first thing i did was setup the internet connection on it.

I am replacing my old m1530 laptop with my new desktop pc, the m1530 used the same connection method using a 'devolo high speed ethernet' plug kit which plugged the laptop to the plug socket, which then connected to another 'devolo high speed Ethernet' plug connected directly to the router in another room !

I was getting upwards of 400mps when using my laptop. Now when I transferred the 'devolo high speed ethernet' plug kit to my new computer Im getting no more than 30kps max if im lucky !!

Whats the deal ?? I dont understand why its soo sloww??

any ideas would be greatly appreciated :) !

Hi jaboyle, just gonna try and get a few more details here. You say with your laptop you were getting 400mps - I have yet to see home broadband that offers such speeds. I assume that's what windows was telling you you were connected at - this is only your local speed, not your online speed.

In contrast, you say you're getting no more than 30kps now. Is this showing you this in the same place as you seen the 400mps, or do you mean download speeds?

Go to http://www.speedtest.net, run a speed test and see what it comes back as. As this is a wired connection, this should be whatever your broadband package is (For example if it's 8mbps you should be getting close to 8mbps on speedtest, depending on how close you are to your exchange)

Secondly, If you press the windows key + r, type in "cmd" in the run box, press enter.

When the black command box pops up type in "ping google.com". Post here what results you get for the time. It's the one that says time: (x)ms

We'll see what we can do from there =-)
