    Hello Everybody,

So, my problem is with my Laptop and my router. My laptop rarely detects my secured home network, and when it does detect it, it's a coin toss if it connects or gives me the "cannot Connect" error.

    Here is what i have.
Laptop: Inspiron 1520 with Intel Pro Wireless card. I'm running Vista Home Premium,

Router: Linksys WRT45GL running DD-WRT. I'm willing to switch back to the default linksys drivers if that would be better.

    I'm using WPA2 AES/TKIP security.

Basically, i just want it to work correctly, I just want my laptop to detect and connect to my network. If not 100%, at least more than the 5% it's working right now. If anybody can give me some helpful advice, guides, or knows what's going on, that would be very helpful.

How strong is the signal strength from the router?

If weak signal, dd-wrt gives you power control over the radio. And their was a problem with one of the releases. Which version are your running, Try the latest v24CR5. This is a candidate release, works better than v23SP2

When i connect it's always full bars reception. i'm in an apartment and i'm never more than 40 feet from my router. it's located about 6 feet off the ground and is on the wall.

I will try to update the firmware on the router in a little bit.(If i can find it on their annoying site), but here are a few of my router options just in case they might be an obvious reason it's not working. To be honest, this is my first venture into wireless networking, so i don't know the meaning of most of the options.

    Firmware: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std
Router Name - DD-WRT (Should that be the same as my network name?)
    Radio is - On
    Mode - AP
    Network - Mixed
    SSID - ******
    Channel - 1
    Xmit - 28 mW
    DHCP Server - Enabled

    Wireless Options,Basic Settings:
    Wireless Mode - AP
    Wireless Network Mode - Mixed
    Wireless Channel - Auto
    Wireless SSID Broadcast - Enabled
Sensitivity Range (ACK Timing) - 2000 Meters

    MAC Radius Client - Disabled

    Wireless Security:
    Mode - WPA2 Pre-Shared Key Mixed
    Encryption - TKIP
Key Renewal Interval (in seconds) - 3600

So, that's my router. obviously it has more settings, but those are the ones that i think matter, as i said, i'm no expert, so who knows.

    Thanks.
