pretty self explanitory from the title, No computers can access my desktop (Shared Files, Pinters ect.) But the desktop CAN access all other computers. I think its just a standard setting, and I am only using the basic windows firewall, Any ideas??

If you have firewall on desktop try shutting it down and then see if the laptop can see it. That will tell you if the firewall is blocking access. What firewall do you have on there? Usually there is a setting to share on the network.

    Thanks, that worked
I am using the windows firless (SP2) but im finding it difficult to get my head around the 'Exceptions' tab, if an item it listed, it is being blocked? but if an item is listed and ticked, it is being allowed? (file and printer sharing?)

Both computers have their own IP address.
Go to command prompt and then type "ping [ip address]" (eg ping 192.168.0.1).
That will tell you whether you can connect to the other computer.

Exception should be ticked to work (but I don't use Windows firewall, just F-secure).

    Thanks everyone for your help
Everything seems to be running smoothly now with the exceptions ticked and firewall enabled
