    Network won't work on batteries

I've had my Acer TravelMate 4002WLMi for a couple months, and I like it, except that my wireless network won't work when my computer is running on batteries. If the power cord is plugged into the wall, the wireless works fine, but if I unplug the power, the wireless instantly cuts out and dies. If I boot up on batteries, the wireless just won't connect at all.

Bottom line, batteries = no internet.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or has an idea of what could be going on. I've Googled, I've searched my windows, driver settings and the bios in case this is a power saving "feature", but I'm stumped. Anyone know?

I did contact Acer, and they sent me a form letter saying I could send the computer to a service center, but that's a route I'm trying to avoid if at all possible.

Any help would be much appreciated!! [ :D]

I should note that I'm not yet positive if the wired network cuts out like this too, but I'm off to figure that out.

Ok, I did some testing, and looking in device manager, and it looks like the PCMCIA adapters, the bus host controllers, and the network controller all die when I unplug the power.

I guess it's more than just a setting somewhere afterall.

Yeah, I guess so. I was hoping to avoid it. I'm really getting used to this notebook and it's going to be hard to let it go away for servicing! heh
