I'm trying to connect my laptop to my home network but for some reson it won't do it. When I troubleshoot the network using "Ping" this is what happens:

    From my Desktop computer:
    - I can Ping the Loopback address.
    - I can Ping its own address.
    - But I can't Ping my laptop's IP address.
    From my Laptop:
    - I can Ping the Loopback address.
    - I can Ping my Desktop's IP address.
    - But I can't Ping its own IP address.

This tells me that the problem is in the laptop but I don't konw what to do. I already removed and reinstalled the Network adapter and still it doesn't work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Note: My desktop computer is connected to the router with an ethernet cable and my laptop is wireless. I'm using a Linksys router.

Did you do more trouble shooting than just the ping command? Did you check firewall settings, workgroups ect....

Reezin, the reason why I'm posting in here is so people can tell me what the problem could be and I can check. If you can't help me with that then I would appreciate if you stop posting in here unless you have something helpful to tell me. Thanks

    Anybody else?

Wasn't trying to be a smart^% or anything.I would have suggested the network adapter, but you already did that are you sure that it isn't the security settings in the firewall. PEACE :)

Are they both the same OS? Even one being XP Pro and the other being XP Home can make a difference in the settings. Do they either have IPv6 enabled? You said firewall is checked, but what specificly are you using? Does each computer have a firewall? Is it software or the XP Firewall, does your router have a firewall too? Is file and printer sharing enabled on one or both of the computers? Do you have anything shared from any computer? Is NetBIOS over TCP/IP for both connections? Are we talking about DCHP router assigned IP addressing or set set static IP? If your unsure on how to check for any of this, reply back with specifics.
