I'm having a problem where when I open up my laptop, the wireless connects, but when I go into My Network the other computer(s) on the network don't show. I know they ARE connected, I was even able to leave a folder from the other computer open, and when I opened up the laptop it could still be accessed, still use files, etc, but the actual computer name would not show up in the work group. This results in me having to wait 5 or 10 minutes, then refreshing the My Network page, at which point it will usually show up.

Does anyone know what this is caused by, or how to fix it?

I have a Dell 6400, running Vista Home Premium, and I have their "Next Gen" wireless card (Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN).

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

Well, I figured out that I could manually type the pathway.. "\\Computer name\Folder`` and it let me in. Still somewhat annoying that the computers do not appear listed, but at least I can do this. :p

Sound like the computers are not in the same work group. And have you turned on file sharing. And/or make sure the personal FW are allowing your subnet. Or just disable for testing.

Thanks, blue. It is taking some time still to get adjusted to using Vista. I poked around and finally found the workgroup settings, and adjusted it to my network. It seems to be working better, now. Some of the ways things are done in Vista are so strange... Especially when you're used to things being done much differently. :)

Again, thank-you for the tip. Much appreciated. :D
