I've ordered the Atheros 5005 and was thinking about going with the Netgear wpn824. Just wondering if anybody has this setup or maybe just the Netgear wpn824 and how they like it. I ran a search for wpn824 and a bunch of nothing so far. This setup will be going in my Asus z70va by the way as soon as money is transfered and I decide on where to buy it.

I've had two NetGear routers. Both worked quite well. ProPortable and DiscountLaptops are prety good.

I also have a Netgear router - I think it is great, I have never had any problems with it. Range and signal strength are quite good. :)

You may want to look at the Netgear CG814WG - that's the one I have. It's b/g 54MBPs.

I own the WGR614 and its been very good with my Atheros, I can roam around the house and outside but not too far without losing a beat.

Well its good to hear that you guys have had pretty good luck with the Netgear/Atheros setup. I just picked up a WGU624 for about $38 delivered so it was worth a shot. Refurb on ebay from a local guy but the price was right. Now the pieces are in place and its time to order the z70va tomorrow. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Just an FYI. I don't have my z70va yet (ordered 10-3) but the Atheros 5005 got here today. Just wanted to let people know that if you are interested in trying the 5005 I got it on ebay from oxford.bay and it was bought and delivered to my door here in California in 5 days! Extremly fast transaction! Now I don't have any clue yet about how it works in my yet to be delivered laptop but at least the card is here.

Do you need any guides to install the PCI Card?

Check out the guides in the ASUS FAQ, they helped me lots..

Remember to be patient, especially the keyboard 'rim', its annoying but you need to slowly, 'unclick' it out...

Best of Luck and enjoy :D

Thanks Cordiolis. Ya I'm sure I'm going to need some help when the Asus get here. The drives that were on Back order came in today and I know that I was pretty far down on the list so its going to be awhile. But when it does get here, I'm sure I'll be posting a lot of questions. Maybe not for the install part but the configuring of a network card and adapter is completly new to me. I've always just had one desktop machine and upgrade to another when I felt it was needed. So a laptop and the whole wireless deal is going to make me feel like a fish out of water I'm sure.
