I'm fixing my friend's laptop with this wireless adapter, and whenever it is plugged in, the CPU usage goes up to 100%, and performance is extremely reduced; most noticeable by the movement of the mouse.
    Any body help, please!!!

Take alook in task manager and see if you can determine what process are using so much of the cpu's resources.

WPNT511.exe , explorer.exe, taskmanager , firefox take turn to consume the CPU, even if I didn't touch anything.

Do you have the router that goes with the wpnt?If you don't I would look in the configuration setting and adjust to the lowest if possible.Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your card, and are you using a wireless mouse? Most wireless devices run at 2.4Ghz,and I know that with this card the range is limit,so maybe the mouse is interfering with the singnal.

I don't see any option to adjust to the lowest if possible as you said.
No, I used it with 2Wire modem + router combo.
And no, I use a wired mouse.
