I have a wireless router at home - Netgear WPNT634

I use Bigpond cable in Australia.

I have the wireless security set up as WEP. I know this is not ideal but my work laptop can only use WEP as our IT is so backwards that the machines are still pre SP2 (though updates have been applied selectively - I work in the pharmaceutical sector and everything has to be validated). WEP basically stops connections being made by mistake I know it can be broken in less than 60 seconds.

This setup has worked fine for over a year. Enter the Lenovo (IBM) T60 laptop my wife recently got from her work. I have set up the networking "appropriately" and her computer connected. After a couple of minutes the computer lost connection to the router. My laptop could not connect to the router and neither could the desktop which is connected by an ethernet cable. Ping to 192.168.1.1 has a 100% loss of packets using all 3 machines.

To get networking back again I had to pull the power on the router and plug it in again. The second time the T60 connected it was fine until the computer disconnected and again the router could not be reached so had to resort to powering off the router.

For both the T60 and my laptop we connect to our corporate networks using VPN.

Apart from the fact that my laptop in a HP and hers is a Lenovo can anyone suggest what is happening?

    Thanks!
