is it really as good as they say it is it claims to reach upto 500,000ft

500,000 feet is almost 1,000 miles. I have this router and I can tell you it's range is not 1,000 miles, but it works pretty good around the house.

thx for all the help dude

According to Netgear you need a MIMO PCMCIA card to get the extended range benefits. I can tell you I had it at my neighbor's house about 75 feet away and through a couple of walls using my internal Intel 2200bg card. It worked well, but the signal strength was only a two out of five bars. Maybe with the MIMO card you'll get better range. Good Luck.

i cant get a MIMO card internal tho in config that sucks my house is fairly large hope it'll work

I just read something where a laptop was getting a MIMO card. Now if I could just remember.... Ah, yes it was a Samsung X20 which are not sold here. You certainly could get a PCMCIA card for around the house. No one else will see it.

which card u think would give max range

I have heard the Atheros 5005 wireless card is great. I found something true also: Whatever router you have, it works best with the same brand card. My 2 cents

I have the Atheros 5005 with a Netgear WGU624 setup and I've tested mine out a bit. I took my laptop in my car and drove about 1 1/2 away and was still able to connect at about 20dbs (3 bars). That put my signal strength to fair and I was able to cruise through sites on my yahoo sites with no problem. I'd have to say the distance was about 250 ft. or so. I was more than happy with that. Now this is my first wireless setup so I have nothing to base it on as far as better or worse but I just thought it was cool thinking I could go to a friends house that is 4 doors down and be able to follow the football stats as we are watching the game.

You'll probably get hte best reception with the MIMO card.

I just bought this router. I have yet to really test it. The sales rep told me the seven internal antennas will modulate there strength and signal to try to optimize its connection with the computer. Like if you move around the house it may change its signal to bounce of walls differently or something. I don't know how well this works though. Does anyone know about this? Do you need a MIMO network card for this function to work?
