My dad has this router at his house. He also has the Rangemax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter WN111 connected to his desktop computer.

They are linked fine and the internet is working. Right now the speed for the connection is around 120 Mbps I believe.

However I hear that this router can get up to 300 Mbps and I'm wondering how exactly do I get it at this high level?

I mean we spent good money to get the router and we'd like to get the most performance out of it as possible.

People on other forums mentioned DD WRT as a way of making it go faster...but that would void the warranty right? Does it work and is it worth it?

If anyone happens to have this router or knows a lot about it and can offer suggestions as to who to tweak it to get the fastest connection that would be awesome.

The 300mbps speed is only possiable at close distance. To get the best speed you need to run in wide mode (40hz), with WPA2 aes security. But if you have neighbor close v2 spec makes the router play well with neighbors and may not go into wide mode.

    Thanks!

And the router is like a few feet away from the desktop in the same room.

And yeah I've been reading about the "good neighbor" effect from the NetGear forums. Interesting stuff...
