I posted this in the SAMSUNG section but thought maybe it could be a router problem but I doubt it ?
    I have a Netgear N300. About a year old.

I have a Samsung series 7 chronos laptop that I bought from bestbuy about a month and a half ago. I'm not a laptop guy, and was satisfied for the first month with it. Now the Wifi is not catching signal, and im getting fed up of having to troubleshoot every 5 min to get the wifi on this laptop to receive the signal.

My signal is Excellent, because the router is located in my room. We have another laptop, an HP, that was 400$ less then this samsung and it never loses signal. I also have an Xbox that when turned on, it never loses signal.

I've noticed the laptop will keep the wifi signal if i place the router in another room but the signal strength is low and I need it to have excellent signal. I don't see why i cant get this laptop to stay connected to the wifi in my room.
took it to bestbuy, and what do you know, it never lost signal there so they couldnt do anything about this problem.

Any help is appreciated, I dont know what else to do besides putting the router in another room and having to operate on a low signal which I really dont like. (its slower)

What router is it exactly- N300 is nor a model number it's juts a name for 300mbps series- model number would be i.e. WNR3500L or WNDR3700.

What Wi-Fi card do you use in your laptop?
Are the drivers up to date?

What are the settings on your router- is it set to wireless "g" or "n", what type of security are you using (WPA, WPA2 or WEP)?

Is the firmware on the router up to date?

Also make sure that any power-saving options are disabled for Wi-Fi card.

sorry, im pretty green when it comes to this stuff.

    It is a WNR2000

Im not sure on the Wi-fi card, it's the one that came with the laptop. I tried looking for the info on the laptop but had no luck...not sure on the drivers either.

it is WPA type security, i looked all over and could not find "G" or "n" i even looked in the router login.

Checked the firmware, it's up to date.

For some reason I looked for the Wi-Fi card and settings to see if its on power saving but I cant find anything with Wi-Fi card info, but im still trying to see if I over looked it.

Try entering device manager via start menu search, then expand network adapters. Do you see an entry for the wifi card? If you're not sure, just list out whatever is listed under network adapters.
