    Gents / Ladies,
    Help please....
I'm getting so hacked off with the support i'm receiving from the manufactures. Each blame eachother and leave me still with the problem...
Ok, i have a BT Home Hub and a new Acer 9500 with built in wireless.
I have an excellent signal and speed strength yet connecting to the internet takes forever. I have tried moving the laptop next to the home hub with no success.
Is their any settings i need to know to allow me to use the laptop for why i intended it for ??
Just think it may be something so stupid...

    Any takers ??

Sounds like it's a problem with BT rather than the Acer because you said you have excellent signal and speed strength.

Does this happen throughout the day or just at specific times? My thinking is that the ADSL (you're on ADSL right?) network may be slow at peak times.

Edit: incidentally have you tried connecting to the BT Hub through a wired connection to see if that alters your results? It might be worth doing just so we can pinpoint the problem.

Thanks. I will try a direct connection tonight. Havent done that and neither Acer or BT have proposed i do it either.
It fails at all times, day and night.....
I'm just so fed up with it at the moment.
I will try the connection tonight and see what happens.
Thanks for your help and i'll keep you posted.

If you are using WEP or WPA, try disabling and see if you can connect. You will need to delete your wireless network location. Otherwise it will fail if you have security setup. If you by chance have a 11n drop it to g only and see if that helps.

Also download NetStumbler and do a survey of your area. You may have a neighbor on the same channel causing you problems.

That'd be great if you could keep us posted on your results.

I remember when I was on the BT network for internet and they kept passing the buck to everyone else. It was never *their* fault - always other people...
