Need to limit BT on Buffalo whr-54gs
I am sharing a buffalo whr-54gs with a roomate and his BT is killing everything even web surfing.

I also would like to set up rules for counterstrike and starcraft.

Can i limit his BT in the regular firmware or do I have to go dd-wrt or go with tomato.

I'm asking because he is a prick and the router is in his room and he is connected via lan and me via wireless

You should just filter his MAC address out when you want to use it. I hate people who suck up all the bandwidth.

can i limit him when he does that? instead of kicking him off. he isn't so tech savvy and won't notice if I limit him instead.

you could go into his BT settings and limit the download/upload. Unless hes savy enough to change it.. or just flat out ask him to do it. You are sharing none the less.

You can also enable QoS and set HTTP priority to high and his TCP/UDP listening port number to low. You would need to use his computer to check his BT client settings though.

I'm having the same problem as well, and from what I gather these are some options:

    1. Go to his computer and cap the download/upload speeds of his BT client
    2. Go to his computer and increase 'Limit Reservable Bandwidth' from 'QoS Packet Scheduler' under gpedit.msc
    3. Go to his computer and install a bandwidth limiting program (like Net Limiter)
    4. Go to his computer and pull the plug
    5. Go to the router and enable QoS to limit his MAC address bandwidth (might need to install DD-WRT firmware)
    6. Go to the router and disable port forwarding for BT (might not help much)
    7. Go up to him and just tell him about it

Can't think of anymore so maybe someone else can add to it ;)
