Is there any way to just completely clear the networking components of Vista and then restore them? I am having a major problem where neither my Wireless or Ethernet is working, and the drivers for those cards are working fine. This has something to do with uninstalling some of Windows Updates, I think. With that said, and if not, is there any way I can get an offline versions of Windows Updates? I guess this basically has me waiting until the standalone version of SP1 comes out, and maybe that might resolve the problem for me, if you guys don't have any ideas.

Backup and reinstall, unless you can wait for SP1.

You can look to see what MS has updated, make the list. Then go to MS Update page and download the packages for installing them later. This is done all the the time with corporations. They block MS from there networks to allow them to test the updates before roll out.

I actually got a copy of SP1, and installed it, but it still didn't fix the problem, so I am guessing it is something else that happened with either the updates corrupting something that SP1 didn't come back and fix, or something else that got messed up somehow. I talked for the past 3 hours to HP technical support, and they couldn't do anything with it, either. They also suggested that I do a total system restore. I know technical support people don't always have all the solutions, but if I don't find something soon, I am going to have to wipe it.

Did you ever find a answer to your question, I am having problems with my Lenovo T61 not completing the IP configuration and giving me an IP connection? My wireless seems to work but I can't get connect with IP

I ended up doing the system restore, and the problem was corrected. I don't want to suggest that you do that, though, necessarily, because your problem might be less serious than mine, and might actually be fixable.
