    Hey Guys,

I live in a 3 bedroom where I am furthers from the Fios Router. I get 2 bars usually with download speed of like 5-7 MBS. If i get close to the router or dodge all the walls I can get like 4 bars (full) d/l at like 19-23 MBS.

I hooked a NetGear 300N router to the fios router and can usually get 2-3 bars on it downloading speed 5-13 MBS.

If I get a NetGear 600N Dual Band router will that give me max connection? straight line from my pc to router probably passes through 3-4 walls.

thanks for any help or advice.

I've already tried changes channels and it seems to help a little. I use 11 now instead of 6.

Dual band is useless for you. You would end up with an additional 5GHz band which fades quickly with distance (quicker than 2.4GHz) so you would get even worse results with this band assuming you would be able to connect at all.

What you need is a router that offers very good range on 2.4GHz band. I would recommend a Linksys E4200v1. Coincidentally it is a dual band router and a very good one at that but you would only be interested in it's 2.4GHz capabilities,

NOTE: Linksys E4200 v1 is not actually called "v1". It's simply called E4200 while version two is actually called E4200v2.
I would recommend v1. It may be hard to come by these days but there are refurbished units available for $80-$100 which are a good deal.
