I just signed up to get TV from the same company that I recieve my high-speed internet and phone service from. When they installed my cable box and hooked it up to my internet connection, they took my DSL modem, saying I wouldn't need it anymore, that all my connections are now in the cable box. So now I just have the one ethernet cable hooked into my PC.
I bought a wireless router, hoping to connect my laptop, PC and Xbox 360 in a network, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to set it up without a DSL modem. I assume that it has to be connected via the cable box, but it's very confusing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The cable modem connects to the router via the ethernet port (the one you have connected to your laptop). The router has different ethernet ports on the back. The laptop, PC and Xbox 360 connect to the ethernet ports on the back of the router.

If you can connect to the all in one tv/modem box. Change the internet setting to Bridge mode. Then your router will work.
