Hey guys!
I own a motel in Arizona. I am not too good with wireless networking and all.
I have a N router, Cisco, Linksys Model # WRT 160 N V2
I have 25 rooms in my motel which is in a square shape.
I havae Office to 112 in one side, 114 - 122 on other side and 123 -125 on third side of a square.
So now the problem: i get wireless network from 101 - 105 with pretty decent connection, nothing after that.
So what i want to know is, what can i do to get connection everywhere in my property. Ive heard something called Access point, i have no idea what that means, i tried googling but found no good information. So i want to know is, is there anything i can do (not too expensive) and get connection in my property.
Sorry for my english, its my third languange, and thanks for any information and help!

You might want to read-up on wireless internet basics.

This could get a bit complicated, and since I assume you'll be providing service to your customers, which will raise security issues (and payment issues if you intend to charge for the service), it might be best to hire a good technician to assist you in setting up your wireless network.

i know the basics of internet and WIFI, i just want to get a good connection for my internet, i have other motels nearby who do not use secured internet, they use different routers on differnt floor of their motels to give the connection to all their guests. But as i said earlier, my motel is in square shape, i need a booster or something to get connection all my guests and not just to first few rooms.

What are the dimensions of the motel? Is it just a square with all windows looking outward, or does it have an internal courtyard as well?

Would need to know more information...particularly distances.
A few things to consider:
Wireless N provides better range and speed, but your router is not dual band so any wireless signal will scale backto wireless g anyway. Do not set it to wireless N only, because most laptops out there are only wireless g. Wireless B/G will be more reliable.
Your hotel...does it have shared attic space maybe?
The current router is located in the office? Which is on the end of one of the sides? Probably the worst place to put it. Is it located up high? On a desk? What are the walls made off between the rooms?
Assuming I have the basic layout in my head:
Code:R1xxxxxR2 x x x x x x x x x x x x O x
You'd have to get power to those spots--shouldn't be too hard.
This assumes from O to R1 is less than 300 feet and that from R2 is less than 300 feet...otherwise you would need to install some additional repeaters in there -
An access point looks like a router, only it feeds everything it receives to the router. It's like a second antennae for the router.
Most companies sell access point machines. Another option is to take a second router and turn it into an access point.
I hope that answers your question. -
